Massachusetts man fatally shoots neighbor, dog, himself; 2 kids shot were hospitalized A 34-year-old man broke into his neighbor's apartment and shot a woman, a dog and two of the woman's grandchildren before fatally shooting himself, Massachusetts authorities said. Around 2:40 p.m. Monday, the Springfield Police Department responded to a report of gunshots heard at an apartment in Springfield, Massachusetts. When officers arrived, they found the shooter, Victor Nieves, 34, the woman, Kim Fairbanks, 52, and a dog dead at the scene, the Hampden District Attorney's Office said in a news release.
